Dear Mastectomy Friend!
If you would like to finally avoid the fear of rejection
or
unattractive to men because of your mastectomy, and stop feeling sorry
for yourselves and creating misery to people around you, then this
might be the most important letter you'll ever read.
My name is Lea Yekutiel. In February 2000, I was
diagnosed with breast cancer and the verdict was Radical Mastectomy.
I am not a professional ad writer, but what I want to share with
you is revolutionary exciting. That I just had to sit down and tell
you about it. So please bear with me.
Imagine yourself with two fabulous breasts that the nature blessed
you with. They are size C cup, but you still don't need to wear bra
because they are so beautifully sculptured and nobody can tell if you
wear a bra or not. They are your pride and joy of your womanhood. You
cherish them. They are a part of your whole being as a woman. This was
me when I was in my mid fifties.
One day I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and the verdict was
Radical Mastectomy. Yes, the doctors told me that there were all kinds
of option available to me in forms of reconstruction. I believed them;
I tried them all over and over again, but the results were fruitless.
I was left to face the dreaded truth that I have to live with
One Breast for the rest of my life. I was crushed, confused. My whole
image as a woman was destroyed.
Breast Cancer is one of the most fearsome diseases a woman can
face. I was one of many women in this situation.
My worst fears were facing myself every time I looked in the
mirror. The mirror doesn't lie.
My new image was not acceptable to me every time I looked in the
mirror.
That's where I was six years ago, questioning myself.
Would I be whole woman again?
Would I be desirable to men again?
Would I be able to have intimate relationship with men again?
It took me a while to get over it and I sympathize with what you are
going through. I know there are many of us around the world, who live
with the same fears I lived with.
That experience inspired me to take action and do something...
And if you don't think what I have to say works, wait until you read
my book and hear about the outrageous thing I did in front of 350 strangers
What people have to say about
"Making the Breast of It"
By reading this book I learned how to connect with my inner self
and realized that I am a whole woman even with one Breast or
none. Few months
later I found a boyfriend.
Ruth Cohn – divorced mother
This book helped me to restore the confidence that I had as a woman before
Mastectomy.
Caroline Raymond – single woman
...I got new insight about living with One Breast. Living with
one Breast was not an issue for intimacy with men anymore. It was how I projected
myself...as a result I found my soul mate.
Judee Rimon – a nurse
...I learned that the fear of intimacy was all in my own head. I had the option to shift my mind by remembering who I really was and 'feel a whole woman
again'. Now I have a boyfriend.
Malka Rubin –
single woman
I
was amazed how this book touched me personally, even though I am not a
breast cancer patient and neither did I have mastectomy. It is
brilliantly written that touches every aspect of life. It gives the
reader the tools how to connect with the spiritual aspect of life,
especially for breast cancer patients. It also gives tools how to
overcome the fear of intimacy after mastectomy and I love the
inspirational quotes. It is necessary read for anybody who has to
overcome challenges in life.
Ms. S. Green - married women
I just finished
reading, "Making the Breast of it" Overcoming Fear of Intimacy After
Mastectomy. The book was so powerful that I could not put it
down until I finished reading, "Making the Breast of it". The story
moved me as well as the author’s desire to assist and educate other
women who have had the experience of Breast Cancer touch their lives.
It is apparent, that Ms. Yekutiel understands first hand the fear that
lurks behind facing, overcoming, and thriving, after Breast Cancer.
By
having this book, not only do I feel that there is another woman out
there who understands my pain and newfound intimacy issues. The book
includes inspiring self- coping tools that I now have at my fingertips
like a trusted friend. By incorporating the author’s suggestions, I am
now able to understand my own fear of intimacy. Above all, how to cope
with it by living life on a higher level of consciousness.
I recommend this
book not only personally but professionally as well. It is a gem for
any therapist who is assisting other women to cope with Intimacy after
Breast Cancer (or any other life threatening illness for that matter).

Read this
book! I could not put it down. This book contains not only
grief and sorrow----it has lots of humor, and excellent information. It
is a great read.
OK, I confess! I know Lea personally.
I have watched her change and grow over the past few years and I am happy to
say that she walks her talk. If you have breast cancer you have to read this
book. If you do not, and this includes me, you still should read this book
because the principles within it, apply to overcoming any difficult experience.
In addition, it will add much more insight into your life, and compassion for
women with this type of challenge. I know I do.
Mary Lowe - a married woman
I read your book "Making the Breast of It" from cover to cover and
enjoyed it very much. I have a friend going through chemo again
and your book helped me realize the importance of a support
network, even when people have a hard time asking for help. I
recommend your book to anyone and everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What made you to write a book with such a title as "Making the Breast of It"? A.Since I had breast cancer and lost a
breast to mastectomy, it was very traumatic for me. I went through
hell with many breast reconstruction surgeries that were
unsuccessful. I had no choice but to "make the best of it". As the
saying goes "When you get a lemon, make a lemonade". After you read
the book, you will understand how I turned the "Lemon" into
"Lemonade".
Q. Why did you choose the subtitle as "Overcoming Fear of Intimacy after Mastectomy"? A. It's not a secret that men are known for being attracted to women with boobs. As a single woman I was facing the fear of intimacy with men after my own mastectomy. There are many women in my situation around the world, I wanted to relate to them. To let them know that they are not alone in this situation. And help them find some solution to this serious issue. By learning more about themselves, they can learn how to educate and enlighten men about this issue. Since we know that men are more visual and boobs play a big part in sexual encounters.
Q. What inspired you to totally expose your darkest moments? A. My inspiration came from various reasons. I didn't want the story to be just another breast cancer story. I wanted to tell my story with a fresh slant to look at breast cancer situation. And bring awareness that we women are not only our breast and our sexuality does not depend on having one breast or none.
Q. Where this desire to help other women in your situation came from? A. I have been around many breast cancer survivors who had difficulties to accept their new image and lived with constant fear. My heart ached for them. I personally became a stronger human being because of my experience. And I want to convey it to other women in my situation. I want to inspire, empower, and encourage other women to never ever give up in fulfilling their sexual desires. Also to remind women that it’s their job to educate and enlighten the men about this issue.
Q. Why do you feel you became a stronger human being after your experience? A. As the saying goes "What does not kill you, make you stronger". This experience helped me to learn a lot about myself. I learned how to tackle obstacles and challenges in life. It helped me to look at life with different perspective. My attitude towards life changed. My priorities in life changed. It helped me to find my mission in life. I learned to become more compassionate to other people. It was a total life change experience for me. As a results, I feel I am a better and stronger person.
